“They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.” (Isaiah 49:10 NIVUK)

We serve a compassionate God who cares deeply for us.. To have compassion is a deep awareness of and sympathy for those who are in need..and it inspire acts of kindness and mercy..

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:12 NIVUK)

“And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32 AMP)

Jesus showed His Father’s compassion on earth..it flowed from His heart toward those in need… It is not about observing from the sidelines.. but a heartfelt care for another with intent and action… It exemplifies the character of God in who He is and how He responds to us… 

And as Jesus came to earth as an example of us.. It is no wonder God encourage us to also show compassion..

“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15 NIVUK)

‘This is what the LORD Almighty said: “Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.” (Zechariah 7:9 NIVUK)

“Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” (Isaiah 30:18 NIVUK)
