“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”

(2 Timothy 1:7 AMP)

We can be bold and courageous in how we approach each new day.. for God promises us self control as one of the fruit of the Spirit… freely given to us as a grace gift from Him..

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,”

(Titus 2:11-12 NIVUK)

Self control is in fact less about “self”..and mostly about God.. True self control is to be Spirit controlled.. for it depends largely on how much God is in control of our lives… The more we desire God’s will, the easier it is to choose it.. when we are walking with God and looking to him for guidance, we have full access to self control… His power and love are in our heart and he will help us use self-control when we need to.

Pray that God will renew the gift of self control within you..

“And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment], So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].”

(Philippians 1:9-10 AMP)
