Arise and Shine

In this time of uncertainty and fear.. I was reminded of a song by Michael W Smith song.. “Above all” It reminded me that no matter what we may face, God is greater and He loves us immensely!!

“Above all powers, Above all kings, Above all nature, And all created things, Above all wisdom, And all the ways of man, You were here, Before the world began,

Above all kingdoms, Above all thrones, Above all wonders, The world has ever known, Above all wealth, And treasures of the earth, There’s no way to measure, What You’re worth

Crucified, Laid behind a stone, You lived to die, Rejected and alone, Like a rose, Trampled on the ground, You took the fall, And thought of me”

For the Son of God to become man…To bleed.. to suffer such agony.. to endure a death of shame and desertion by His Father.. this is the depth of love which the most inspired mind fail to fathom.

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19 NIVUK)

..Paul is not saying that Christ’s love cannot be known, but that it will always exceed our knowing.. His love is even more than we can comprehend.. He loves you more than you can understand!

We are privileged to know, feel and treasure the love of Christ… Yet, even in the realm of personal knowing, there is always more of Christ’s love to be experienced…

We often measure God’s love to how much we feel loved.. but when Jesus came to earth as an example OF us.. He showed us how much we are capable of loving others..

We love because He first loved us…

And he has given us this command: anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister…

We don’t love others because of the gratitude towards God for loving us first.. We love others because God showed us what love looks like!.. A love that we can feel and experience.. a love that is even MORE than we can comprehend.

Above all, love each other deeply… (1 Peter 4:8 NIVUK)
