We were created in God’s image and likeness.. And therefore we were designed to reflect His likeness… everyday! I am not talking about a physical image, since God is not physical, but spiritual in nature.
So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27 AMP)
And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven. (1 Corinthians 15:49 AMP)
Jesus successfully reflected God’s character to the world.
[Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible]… (Colossians 1:15 AMP)
How can we portray/reflect God’s flawless image and character?… Simply by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. If we truly abide by His Word, then we will reflect His character. Living in the light of God’s wisdom and strength will lead to a life that looks like Jesus, and will reflect the fruit of the Spirit..
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…. (Galatians 5:22-23 NIVUK)
Our words and actions tell others not only about ourselves, but also about our Creator.. How we act and speak is a reflection of what we believe about God… We need to align our thoughts with His.. Allow the Holy Spirit to work within us… To lead us… so that we can display the fruit of the Spirit, His image and likeness in which we were created! We are designed to reflect God’s glory.
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart. (Proverbs 27:19 NIVUK)
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18 NIVUK)
